I need to find a distribution of Khoros 2.2 or 2.3, sources
preferable. I would be installing it on a Red Hat 8.0 gnu-linux
system. I understand this was open-source free software. Any
assistance would be warmly appreciated, thank you.

You can download latest Khoros version straight from www.khoral.com
website. However, it is only a Student version, i.e. single seat
license for non-commercial use (see the license). You'll get the
sources and then you can compile it. Good luck, hope it helps.

Petr,
Thank you for the response Petr. I am working on a project which
requires us to use Khoros V2.3 (Customer requirement and a huge base
of v2.3 workspaces). I have a v2.3 distribution now but I only have
manuals for Khoros Pro and Khoros v1.0. The area I am particularly
interested in at the moment is setting up a CVS configuration and
tuning the Imakefiles/Makefiles. I am totally new to Khoros so I
don't know how much difference there is between the releases.

Thanks again,

Pat
